Nosego is a Philadelphia-based artist with a passion for illustration and media arts. He mixes fine art with a contemporary style to deliver highly energetic work. His designs feature an assemblage of patterns, vibrant colors and characters derived from his imagination and his surrounding environment. We caught up with him to have a quick chat on the back of his latest print release.
SK: Tell us about the image you’ve used for your new Stupid Krap print release.
Nosego: The piece was inspired by the idea of being 'true to oneself'.
SK: Do you try and display the animals and creatures in your work as naive and innocent - or are they dark and malevolent?
N: They tend to differ depending the mood I'm trying to set for the piece.
SK: Do they reflect our crazy animalistic society or symbolize something in your own personality?N: I would say they reflect more of the personalities I encounter in day to day life, or a reflection of a personality that I find admirable.
SK: Tell us about the differences you enjoy or dislike between illustration and mural work.
N: I love mural work just because of the way a piece can impact it's surrounding environment, and the illustrative work because every piece I learn something new or a little different. I don't have any dislikes about either craft.
SK: What other artists have you been working with in some of your recent travels?
N: Some incredible folks, last year I was fortunate to work a good bit with , Greg Mike and the ABV team , Mad Steez, Curiot, Lamour Supreme and a few other incredible artist I had the pleasure of meeting!
SK: What is your art collection like?
N: It's building quite nicely at the moment, I think one of my favorite things about being an artist is trading with other artist.
SK: What other things do you collect?
N: Nothing else at the moment...suggestions?
SK: How important are prints or editions in your art practice?
N: I aways enjoyed collecting prints, and just happy to be able to do the same for those who might like my work.
SK: What’s coming up for you in 2014?
N: Currently I'm getting ready for a few shows, and some fun mural projects!
