The Galeries in association with aMBUSH Gallery present TRANSIENT

Lane Four is a new lane way art project in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Lane Four mirrors it’s home, The Galeries, with its diverse boutique offerings, with the aim to foster and create sustainable opportunities for Australian and international artists.

Launching Thursday 13 October 2011, suspended from the ceilings of The Galeries laneway, Lane Four’s first installation will be home to three collaborative panels from avatar artists dominating the Sydney street art scene, before A heritage listed sandstone backdrop.

Exhibition One, curated by aMBUSH Gallery, will feature large scale panels, where Lane Four will exhibit the pairings of two artists per artwork. Each panel serves as a canvas for two stylistically matched artists to push creative limits side by side, to create utterly unique, one off pieces.

The exhibition will see long time collaborators and Sydney artistic staples, Beastman and Phibs who’s otherworldly creatures spill from distant, exotic lands and extra dimensional riffs.

Max Berry and Mark Alsweiler will compliment their distinctive soft and whimsical process with Mark blending his dreamy, static gaucho figures and Max creating worlds in which his inhabitants exist amongst strange lore in a constant state of awe and discovery.

With bold lines, full colour reminiscent of comics of yesteryear, the dynamic duo Jumbo and Numskull occupy the final panel. Numskull’s work is one part superhero limbs, disembodied cartoon expressions and classic typework mashed together in a blender. Jumbo’s larger than life psychedelic characters dress dappled in hypercolour and dizzying patterns.
